Judas...Friend of Jesus

Judas-betrays-jesus1
Matthew 26:50 But Jesus said to him, “Friend, why have you come?”

Matthew 27:3-10 Then Judas, His betrayer, seeing that He had been condemned, was remorseful and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, saying, “I have sinned by betraying innocent blood.”

And they said, “What is that to us? You see to it!”

Then he threw down the pieces of silver in the temple and departed, and went and hanged himself.

But the chief priests took the silver pieces and said, “It is not lawful to put them into the treasury, because they are the price of blood.” And they consulted together and bought with them the potter’s field, to bury strangers in. Therefore that field has been called the Field of Blood to this day.

Then was fulfilled what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet, saying, “And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the value of Him who was priced, whom they of the children of Israel priced, and gave them for the potter’s field, as the Lord directed me.” See Zechariah 11

Acts 1:18-19 Now this man purchased a field with the wages of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst open in the middle and all his entrails gushed out. And it was known unto all the dwellers at Jerusalem; insomuch as that field is called in their proper tongue, Aceldama, that is to say, The field of blood.

The site referred to in these verses is traditionally known as Akeldama, in the valley of Hinnom, which was a source of potter's clay. Source Wikipedia

JUDAS QUITE LITERALLY WENT TO HELL(GEHENNA)

I never made that connection before...Interesting...8-)

Theres something funny going on here. Whether we realize it or not.

Leviticus 27:1-4 Now the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘When a man consecrates by a vow certain persons to the Lord, according to your valuation, if your valuation is of a male from twenty years old up to sixty years old, then your valuation shall be fifty shekels of silver, according to the shekel of the sanctuary. If it is afemale, then your valuation shall be thirty shekels;

Do you see the discrepency here?

If the price was for a male it would have been 50 shekles of silver. But this was 30.

Was this 30 shekles of silver the price to redeem His bride from her bondage?

Was this 30 shekles of silver the price of an adulterous betrothed bride?

Luke 4:18 “The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed;

Ephesians 4:8-10 Therefore He says: “When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, And gave gifts to men.” Now this, “He ascended”—what does it mean but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth? He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.

I think it seems pretty clear that there's a whole lot more going on in this story than is apparent on the surface...8-)

HELL YES/HELL NO...What Really is the Extent of God's Grace...And Wrath?

Just recently I received John Noe's new book, "Hell Yes/Hell No...What Really is the Extent of God's Grace...And Wrath?"

The following is a product description from Amazon.com.

"This compelling and controversial book strikes at the heart of Christian theology and Christianity itself. It presents a balanced and scholarly re-exploration of "one of Christianity's most offensive doctrines"-Hell and the greater issue of the extent of God's grace (mercy, love, compassion, justice) and wrath in the eternal, afterlife destiny for all people. Inside, conflicting views are re-evaluated, their strengths and weaknesses re-assessed, and all the demands of Scripture are reconciled into one coherent and consistent synthesized view. The author further suggests that our limited earthly view has been the problem, re-discovers the ultimate mystery of God's expressed desire, will, and purpose, and transcends troubling traditions as never before. Bottom line is, God's plan of salvation and condemnation may be far different and greater than we've been led to believe. In a clear and straightforward manner, this book lays out the historical and scriptural evidence as never before."

Over the next couple of weeks I am going to be reading through this recently published book by Dr. John Noe. I will be posting my thoughts on this book here. The good, the bad and the ugly.

I will do my best to present some of John's key points on what has increasingly become a hot potato in recent months. The question of where God's grace ends...And His wrath begins.

After I finish reviewing this book from cover to cover, I will be interviewing John on Preterist Radio to discuss how he came to write this book and why he felt that now was the right time to publish this work.

Stay tuned over the coming weeks to get a better idea of what has become a rather hot topic in just about every nook and crannie(cranny) of Christianity.

The next post to look for will be called, "Clearly, Something is Wrong."

EARLY CHURCH FATHERS ON FIRST CENTURY FULFILLMENT - 08.11.2011

Origen-1
“If the passage about John the Baptist not being worthy to untie Jesus' shoes
possesses a hidden meaning, we ought not to pass over it. I think that the
incarnation, when the Son of God takes on flesh and bones, is one of the
shoes, and the descent into hell is the other. It is said in Psalm 16: "You will
not leave my soul in hell." And Peter, in his general epistle, mentions Jesus'
descent into hell. Therefore, the one who can show the meaning of both
sojourns in a worthy manner, is able to unloose Jesus' shoes.”
